Isn't it strange how people can misjudge each other in life and sometimes make such false assumptions? They can take one look and leap to all sorts of ludicrous conclusions regarding your personality and station in life.
Take the good lady, for example, who plainly mistook me for some rustic son-of-the-soil, seeing in my demeanour nothing more than a weather-beaten old gardener with the request that i should visit her secluded abode without delay to trim her precious little bush.
By way of reply, i could only bow and say, Madam, alas but your bush is of no importance to me.
But she was not to be so easily deterred and, with fluttering eyelashes, she implored me in the name of heaven and said that she could not rest until my seasoned hands had been given free reign amongst her lush foliage.
Forgive me, madam, i protested with a polite firmness in my voice, but i fear that i'd be nothing but fingers and thumbs if let loose amongst your undergrowth and therefore i must decline your unexpected invitations and go on my way, unhindered and in peace, if you please.
She stood in silence a moment and sighed before a reluctant acceptance that she should cease her entreaties with grace came upon her...but not before mentioning that if i ever experienced a change of heart then she would be only too pleased to find me busy in her shrubbery one morning.
I touched my hat to her respectfully, turned on my heels and strode briskly into the distance without further ado, resolute in my belief that sleeping dogs should be left to lie and that least said, soonest mended.

That by far is the most elegant way I've ever heard No.
You do have a way with words.
Nice post.
