As a lifelong Pompey fan who has wandered through the football wildnerness for many years, i'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that we've actually won the FA Cup for the first time in my life with yesterday's 1-0 victory over Cardiff City at Wembley.
In fact, it's still sinking in that we're a Premier League team after 5 years, so conditioned had i become to struggling in the lower divisions with only the occasional glimpse of success to brighten the almost endless gloom.
The age old motto, Pompey Til I Die, remains true in times of failure and adversity but is sweeter when success returns, as they have since the arrival of Harry Redknapp on the south coast, a football club is for life and one's devotion is unshakeable and almost sacred.
And so, the dream has become reality and our name is back on the cup again after a 69 year absence, we will cherish our moment of glory and relish the limelight that is so often denied us.
I cannot single out any individual for higher praise than his colleagues, so i conclude by giving my eternally heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the following men who this weekend etched their names into Pompey folklore and legend by finally bringing the Cup back to Fratton Park:
Harry Redknapp, Sacha Gaydamak, Tony Adams, Joe Jordan, David James, Glen Johnson, Sol Campbell, Sylvian Distin, Hermann Hreidarsson, John Utaka, Pedro Mendes, Sulley Muntari, Lassana Diarra, Niko Kranjcar, Nwankwo Kanu, David Nugent, Papa Bouba Diop, Milan Baros.
