Many a youthful hour i spent happily watching old black & white films produced in the fifties and sixties by the English film industry.
It seemed an age when humour was gentler, charm was abundant and sex-appeal was discreetly inferred rather than paraded right in front of your eyes.
My own favourites were the Ealing comedies, the Carry On films and, of course, the St.Trinians series of movies that perfectly blended some finely portrayed caricatures, warm and amusing plots with some quite attractive young ladies too.
Such pleasing memories were reprised when i heard that a new version of St.Trinians was on the horizon, starring Russell The Love Muscle Brand amongst others and featuring cameo appearances from Girls Aloud.
I implore you, am i really supposed to follow the storyline with Nicola Roberts parading around in a schoolgirl uniform, complete with stockings & suspenders?
There seem to be no half-measures with ginger girls, they're either very plain or absolutely stunning...the phrase sex on legs springs to mind when it comes to Miss Roberts.
They may need to make two editions of the film, one with Girls Aloud removed, so that i can watch it in peace and enjoy the jokes throughout, rather than being perched on the edge of my seat for an hour and a half desperately trying to glimpse one of them in the background.
There! I did it! I actually wrote a serious piece about something without descending into drooling about women for once...didn't i?
Well, at least i tried.

I agree with you, black and white films are lovely and the leading lady is always so classy!
