Is it really only a week since England stumbled out of the World Cup on penalties yet again? It seems like distant history now, the final is only tomorrow and i'm backing Italy, which may be the kiss of death seeing as my favourites have all fallen by the wayside: Brazil, Spain, England and Argentina, let's get back to club football soon...roll on the new football season!

Our youngest turned 18 this week (while on hols with his mates in Turkey) and it feels a bit strange to know that there aren't any kids around the house anymore, just another couple of grown-ups, not that things will get any more sensible around here, i dare say. We've missed his presence a lot but not his clutter around the place, the house has stayed fairly tidy while he's been absent, strangely enough.

It was nice at last to see Lea evicted from Big Brother, i shall not miss her one little bit: constantly crying, eyes like a mad dog, freak fake breasts that remind me of the joke boobs Gazza used to wear, relentlessly persuing boys young enough to be her sons, scary woman. Aisleyne perplexes me, i've witnessed her nastier side in the house but still have a soft spot for her and i was pleased to see her being so nice to Nikki, i only hope it lasts. The new housemates seem ok so far but let's wait until they've been there another couple of weeks before we decide that they're all lovely people!

I've just completed my entry in the Inside Soap annual awards, sad as that may seem, but it gave me the chance to air my views regarding soaplands many and varied characters this year, which i feel was five minutes well spent. Not many men will openly admit to watching any soaps, let alone enjoying them, but i'm quite happy to do so although i must point out that i don't read magazines such as Inside Soap or Heat...it's just that my better half leaves them lying around and i just have to have a crafty look sometimes...

The lasagne i had for dinner last night was excellent, i can still almost feel it settling in my stomach, same with the fresh strawberries served in rich cream and meringue which followed, there's pork chops in the oven for later and a trifle awaiting my pleasure in the fridge: my motto is un plein ventre est un ventre heureux or, in other words, a full belly is a happy belly!
