The last weekend before Christmas has just melted away, leaving me to summon up one last morsel of energy to fling myself into yet one more weeks work before an extremely well-earned few days break.
The blur of friday night has receded into my memory now, soaked very liberally in alcoholic beverages, namely red wine, white wine and lager; it was a great evening though, a festive party that seemed to go swimmingly if my disorientated senses are anything to go by!
I was supposed to work on saturday morning but remained in my bed as my head thumped incessantly until way after midday, i was feeling dog-rough right up until i went drowsily back to my bed at midnight.
Telling myself to take it a bit easier next time i was out for a few social drinks is always unheeded advice, some lessons we never seem to learn from no matter how often we're forcibly reminded of their consequences. Still, Pompey finally won a home game today so it wasn't a total wash-out!
Sunday was a much better day altogether, a nice lie-in followed by a shortish trip to complete the Christmas shopping before we returned home to bacon sandwiches and tea.
A lazy afternoon in front of the tv: the final episode of Bleak House, i've loved every second of it all -so sad to see it finish- no more swooning over the poetically beautiful Gillian Anderson's Lady Dedlock... then a lovely tea of toad-in-the-hole followed by trifle...mmm! Before consuming the trifle i took a few pics for my site, nothing inspires me quite like trifle does!
Sitting here at my pc sipping a Bailey's Irish Coffee, smoking a cigarette and letting the trifle settle in my belly, i can happily reflect that it hasn't been a bad couple of days at all; the hangover marred it a little but the trifle won through in the end. Roll on Christmas and more seasonal excesses!
Warmest greetings of the season to you all!
